Bread and Wine

Melchizedek brought bread and wine

Canaanite King of Righteousness

way to meet with God

in the Valley of Shaveh

after Abraham’s victory

and Abraham praised God

David wrote a psalm after faining madness

Taste and see that the LORD is good!   How happy is the man who takes refuge in Him!             Psalm 34:8. HCSB

Eat Him

He is tasty and good

knowing this you will be happy

because you will be in God

Jesus said

Whoever eats my body and drinks my blood abides in me and I in him.   (John       6:56.  (Aramaic Bible in Plain English)

many walked away

later at the Passover while they were eating

Jesus took bread and broke it, gave it to the disciples, and said,”Take and eat it.  This is my body.”           Matthew 26:26. HCSB

then He took the wine

“For this is My blood that establishes the covenant; it is shed for many for the forgiveness of sins.”         Matthew 26:28.  HCSB

The Size of Faith

And He said unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?     Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.          Matthew 8:26 ERV

What size is faith?

Is it small like the disciples

who cried out in the storm drenched boat

thinking they would die,

“LORD are you trying to kill us?

Save us from this storm.”

Or is it medium size like Jonah

who pleaded with men

“Throw me overboard!” to calm the sea

Jonah who had to be taken under

drowned at the foot of Mt Carmel

washed up on the shore to save Ninevah

Or is it large like Jesus

who became man

spoke of a kingdom that was other of this world

obedient to the end

cried out in a loud voice

“Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.”

The Size of Faith

Body of Christ

I am not standing in the line of a church buffet

forgetting to eat I walk past the mashed potatoes

that the elder delivered to the table

Some eat and are poisoned by the free dinner

hospitalized and dying this year

it is not good for holiday business

The body of Christ is walking around

a leg here a nose an eye

the organs directing themselves

Does the nose thank the eye for seeing?

What can the fingertips feel that the ears

are forever longing for?

The skin most precious container

holding the outer remnants together

rising and falling with breath

How many followers left when Christ said

“unless you eat of my flesh

and drink of my blood”?

They were not ready to consume Him.

Clementine Hunter

a character sketch

Forged in the art world

Is yours real?

Ahead of her time

Painted on anything

If you see one

What a find

Black grandmother Moses

Painting her scenes

of going to church

Baptism funeral and flowers

Plantation livin’

Her cotton pickin’ memories

Cotton Crucifixion

Bold statement for her time

A crucified black Lord Jesus

Hangin’ high

Between two cotton bales

That hold crosses of the thieves

Clementine saw the black Lord Jesus

The same one that rescued me

It was not another Jesus

bleedin’ on that tree

It was her Jesus

The one that she could see

Clementine Hunter was a Louisiana artist.  She picked cotton in her younger years and later in life picked paints and brush and said she could “mark” a picture if she would “sot her mind to it”.
