the plane is late
it has not arrived yet from Accra
people are waiting with patience
first 30 minutes
then an hour
we think the plane is cancelled
people begin to rumble
what if the plane doesn’t come
what will we do
the bus ride is long and it is night
we are tired and tired of waiting
the plane lands finally
and we are off to Accra

dVerse prompt on waiting – a photo of Accra
This is so simple, and yet it captures all that tension – will the plane arrive? Will we get away? – and the stakes seem high here.

Yes, it was getting late – 8:30pm flight leaving at 10:30pm. Everyone was getting anxious. A cancellation would mean leaving the airport finding a place to stay. The next day all of their flights between Kumasi and Accru were cancelled. We lucked out.

I have been through this so many times… and that final relief when you finally leave is great.

Nice line: “we are tired and tired of waiting” Waiting can be exhausting wondering if the expected change will ever occur.

Being so far from home, not knowing the lay of the land, would make this a very anxiety-producing experience. Glad it finally got there!
