NaPoWriMo Day 29 prompt on out the window. Written while traveling through Iowa.
SEEDS were small
wrinkled
dried out
until soil held them
& moisture
fed them
now
tender & true
____________
dVerse prompt to take a seed name and write a poem. I chose “tender and true”.
I went outside to till the earth
my shovel & my hoe
but this soil with its clumps
needs to be held
squeezed until it lets go
& falls into fine particles
worthy of seed
Shall we go?
One will shovel
One will hoe
Feel the dirt
Between our toes
Work until sunlight goes
Shall we go?
Shall we go?
Turn the soil
Don’t say no
Need to ready
Soil is what we know
Make plants want to grow
Shall we go?
