Outside
a squirrel & a dove
feed on the ground
figs are coming on
second crop for the birds
& my vision blurred
by the screen

Lovely view, despite the screen! Nature sustains us in these strange times!

Not everyone has a fig tree, nor visiting doves; so halcyon, and yet the screen does disturb me, like a cortical cataract.

A striking image and lovely verse that captures the sense of separation many of us feel. I particularly like the rhyme ‘…birds/…vision blurred’ and the ambiguity of the last lines ‘…my vision blurred / by the screen.’

That screen seems to play in daily life nowadays, as we keep ourselves separated from one another. One day, we’ll tear that screen down.
